Engaging students can be difficult – especially when they expect quick results. Today there are tons of programming languages out there for kids to learn, but few are great at truly engaging students with coding, which is why we love robotics! Learning to code through lego robotics is a fantastic and increasingly popular way to engage students through STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) with programming and coding.
Thanks to Lego’s Educational Division, kids can design interactive robots by putting them together and programming them. The LEGO Mindstorms EV3 is a popular example of Lego’s educational offerings. Students across the globe are picking up on robotics and the field has grown so much that kids are swarming to enter into competitions where they have to design, arm, and program their own robots to do a number of different things to achieve goals set within the competitions.
Lego Robotics with Intellibricks
At Intellibricks, we have more than 20,000 meticulously separated LEGO pieces for students to use in each of our Lego-based classes where students scan, build, and program creations. Students are given in-class projects to complete. Upon completion, they are free to further add to or improvise on their creation while they also enjoy the freedom to play. We believe that by giving students the opportunity to interact with and play with their creations, it will result in a deeper understanding of robotics in the world around them as well as higher levels of creativity.
LEGO Robotics is a great way to teach your child coding. It teaches them to be patient while waiting on big results. It could also pave the way to coding for potential engineers who hunger to find new ways to build or artists who strive to further develop their creative ideas.
