STEM in the Kitchen: Culinary Chemistry & Edible Engineering for Schools
The Core Experience
In STEM in the Kitchen, students in Grades 2-8 discover that cooking is a perfect blend of precision math, transformative science, and global traditions. Working at their own individual stations, students gain kitchen independence while focusing on Applied Mathematics, Physical Science, Nutrition, and Global Culture. To ensure a 100% secure environment, students handle all preparation and measurements, while instructors exclusively manage the safe-heat sources (microwaves/hot plates) to bring the recipes to life.
What Students Learn
- The Math of Success: Use ratios and proportions to balance flavors and ensure every “culinary experiment” tastes exactly right through precise measurement.
- The Science of Transformation: Observe physical changes (melting and solidifying) and chemical reactions (acid and base interactions) in real-time as ingredients transform.
- Global Citizenship: Travel the world through taste! Discover the history, geography, and traditions behind diverse international flavors and cooking techniques.
- Nutritional Literacy: Go beyond the recipe to understand how “body fuel” works, learning to make healthy choices for a balanced and energized lifestyle.

- Kid-Safe Tools Students use age-appropriate knives and cutting boards for independent prep
- Fresh Ingredients We prioritize fresh fruits and vegetables to build healthy habits
- STEM Incorporated Master ratios, fractions, chemical reactions, and physical changes while cooking
- Nutrition Awareness Learn how “body fuel” works to power a healthy lifestyle
Our Commitment to Student Safety
At IntelliBricks, we prioritize the safety and inclusion of all our young chefs. Our curriculum is strictly Meat-Free, Egg-Free, and Nut-Free to accommodate common allergies and dietary preferences. Please note that our recipes do include dairy/lactose products. This class is designed to be a safe, high-confidence environment for students with nut or egg allergies, though we recommend that parents of children with severe lactose intolerance or other specific dietary restrictions contact us before enrollment to discuss our weekly menu.
