This class uses an intuitive child friendly software called SCRATCH to introduce your child to the world of coding. We cover the basics of coding and progress towards more advanced features in SCRATCH coding with the following courses
Game Design with SCRATCH:
Calling all game lovers out there. It’s fun to play video games, it’s even more fun to design your own game! In this class you won’t just learn to program the games, you will also have fun playing them. Students will not only learn the characteristics of a good game like speed, obstacles, scoring, visual appeal and sound effects, they will also learn the basics of coding like variables, if then statements, logic, loops etc. To add to this students will learn to create cool characters (sprites) for their game and will also learn to build the backdrop for the games they create.
Create animations with SCRATCH:
In this class students will learn coding by doing fun animation projects. As students learn the ins and outs of the intuitive drag-and-drop interface, they’ll create an animated birthday card, a fireworks show, and work on creating their own stories including a choose-your-own-adventure! This class will be covering cloning, variables, timing, and even how to create custom sprites and backdrops.
Python is easy to learn and use which has made it one of the most popular and widely used programming languages in the world! Widely used in common applications like Spotify, Instagram, and Machine Learning Programs. Our course is designed to provide an introduction to the Python programming language, while teaching the building blocks of programming such as variables, if/else statements, loops, and more. Afterwards they will then use their new-found knowledge to dive into Pygame, a cross platform set of python modules designed for writing video games, where they will create cool and fun games such as Snake and Flappy Bird.Each lesson builds upon the last as students build fun and complex applications, pushing the limits of their imagination and critical thinking.
Partnering with the local startup PodPi, we have created a curriculum that teaches students about Java-Script coding and applies that knowledge to student-designed, real-world projects. Using Java-Script with an Arduino board, students are able to build their first simple circuits and code them to accomplish a variety of tasks while solving problems across the exciting Island of PodPi! These hands-on activities encourage students to use critical thinking skills to solve real problems. IntelliBricks will provide all supplies. No coding experience is necessary, so any student can join in!
